0:43 beginner workout Mistake #1: I was doing HIIT training
For the beginner, HIIT means High Intensity Interval Training. HIIT basically means you do some crazy stuff like jump squats, burpees, pushups back to back, take a quick break of 1 – 2 minutes then do it again. HIIT training is great if you dont have time to exercise and you want something fast and effective.
And this is where i got into trouble. Everytime I did HIIT, I got sick. Not sick as in vomiting. But sick as in flu like symptoms. So basically the time I would save from doing a HIIT workout, I would lose from being sick for days afterwards.
So personally, I don’t do HIIT anymore. I do my own workouts.
3:05 beginner workout Mistake #2: Trying to walk 5 or more miles daily without taking the proper precautions.
These precautions include proper stretching before and after my walks. I would NEVER do a workout without stretching before and after. But I felt walking was not real exercise so it didn’t require all that. I was wrong. Walking is exercise and if you want to walk 35 miles per week, you need to stretch properly before and after ever single walk otherwise, your foot will break and you will have dozens and dozens of heels that you cannot wear because you have become the kind of person that reads books about podiatry.
5:38 beginner workout Mistake #3: I was training my abs the way the internet told me to. And here’s what the internet says. Abs are made in the kitchen. So if you do crunches or situps or anything like that, you’re wasting your time. Just eat clean and you will get abs!
Guess what? When I took that advise, what I had was a stomach. A small stomach but definitely no abs!
The truth is, the way you get abs is determined by how your body naturally distributes fat. For people that naturally store fat on the belly, abs exercises are a MUST.
