Coronavirus outbreak: B.C. health officials confirm nine new cases, majority at Vancouver care home

British Columbia health officials announced nine new cases of COVID-19 in the province on Saturday, including one presumptive case that they expect will be later confirmed positive. Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said that most of the cases are related to an outbreak in the Lynn Valley Care Centre, where four residents and 12 staff tested positive for the virus.

Henry also stated that individuals with mild symptoms and returning travellers who are self-isolating do not need to be tested unless they become ill enough to require health care.

The total number of cases of the novel coronavirus in the province as of Saturday is 73, with one death in B.C., at this time.
